Mama’s Got Goals Too: Carving Out Time for Our Own Dreams

We talk a lot about our kids’ goals — their horses, their jackpots, their big dreams. But what about ours?
At Rad Rodeo, we believe our dreams still matter — even when the laundry pile is high, the horses need feeding, and the kids are loading the trailer for their third race of the month.
Because here’s the truth: when a mom chases her own dreams particularly when they are in support of her kids, she sets her kids up to chase theirs with heart and grit.
You’re Not Just a Support System — You’re a Role Model
When our kids see us saddle up, work toward a goal, or show up even when it’s hard, they learn by example.
That it’s okay to dream at any age.
That hard work doesn’t stop at adulthood.
That balance means sometimes you get to be the competitor too.
Whether it’s getting back in the arena, running your own horse at a jackpot, or launching a breeding program to support them — those goals matter.
Making Time Without Guilt
Let’s be honest: rodeo moms don’t get a lot of extra hours in the day. But we can carve out space for ourselves if we:
Plan with purpose.
Ask for help.
Let go of perfection.
Maybe it’s early mornings in the saddle before the house wakes up. Maybe it’s using a practice night to lope your own horse. Maybe it’s traveling to take a repro class.
Whatever it takes, we’ve learned that prioritizing ourselves doesn’t take away from our family — it strengthens it.
Investing in Our Own Growth
Our kids aren’t the only ones who get to level up.
We invest in ourselves when we:
Sign up for a class.
Buy that equipment you need to move the program to the next level.
Take coaching seriously for our own performance.
That hunger to keep learning? It feeds our fire and reminds everyone around us that mom isn’t done dreaming.
Fighting the "Too Late" Lie
It’s easy to believe we missed our shot — that if we didn’t go pro in our twenties, it’s too late now.
But that’s not the truth we live by. Not here.
At Rad Rodeo, we believe:
Dreams don’t expire.
Goals evolve with seasons, not age.
Confidence is contagious.
Every time we enter up, swing a leg over, or take a step toward what lights us up — we prove that there’s always room for our own version of success.
Final Thoughts
Chasing dreams as a mom isn’t selfish. It’s leadership.
We’ve got goals, too. And the more we chase them, the more we show our kids how to chase theirs with passion and perseverance.
So get out there. Saddle up. Sign up. And remember — the woman your kids admire most is the one who shows them how it’s done.
