Glitter Makes You Go Faster (Sorta)

I've seen a kid throw down a run in boots with holes and a pony covered in sparkles. I’ve also seen a perfectly turned-out rider freeze up in the alleyway. Here’s the truth: gear matters — but not for the reasons most people think.
At Rad Rodeo, we believe in matching tack, bold patterns, rhinestones, and wild color combos. Not just because it’s fun — because it makes us feel like ourselves. And that confidence? That’s what wins.
Fit It First, Then Make It Fly
Yes, the gear has to fit. A poorly fitted saddle can stop even the best run. A harsh bit in unsure hands can set a colt back weeks. Safety, function, and comfort always come first.
But once that’s dialed in? Bring the glitter.
We teach our kids:
To know why we use what we use.
To choose gear that works for their hands, horse, and goals.
And then, to add the sparkle that makes them shine.
Confidence isn’t just internal. It’s external too. When a kid rolls into the warmup pen in fringe, color-matched reins, and a saddle pad that screams personality? They ride bigger. And that matters.
Why the Sparkle Matters
It’s not about showing off. It’s about:
Standing out in a sea of entries.
Feeling proud of the hard work it took to get there.
Creating memories they’ll want to look back on.
And for some of our youngest competitors? It’s about making the sport fun. Let them wear the crown. Let them add glitter to everything even their horse's butts. Let them believe — even just for a moment — that the glitter really did make them faster.
Because that joy? It carries over into the ride.
Our Golden Rule: Work Hard, Then Bedazzle It
We never use sparkles to cover up lack of work. The fancy gear doesn’t replace:
Clean patterns.
Proper horsemanship.
Time in the saddle.
But once the foundation is laid? There’s no shame in making it your own.
We don’t chase catalog-perfect. We chase unforgettable. We want people to remember:
That little girl in teal with the colorful ponytail and purple reins.
That run where everything clicked and the gear matched the energy.
That kid who might’ve tipped a barrel but did it in full glitter and grit.
Final Thoughts
At Rad Rodeo, we say: glitter makes you go faster. And while we know that’s not exactly true, it feels true when you believe in yourself — and dress like it.
So wear the sparkle. Match your horse. Use gear that fits and feels right. And never let anyone tell you it’s not serious if it’s fun.
We raise riders who work hard, ride proud, and stand out doing it.
That’s what makes a champion.
